james dean's sillouhette

theres a cool blade in my pocket
its hangin out the side
waitin for someone to pick me up
and take me for a ride
theres a smiling face tattooed
on my tired middle finger
so sick and exhausted
always workin for our dinner

come on out and dance with us
we'll write our names in stone
we'll love like we are not afraid
to be cut down to the bone
leave all our empty promises
for someone else to bear
and pull it all together
like the end is oh so near

DREAM AS IF WE'LL LIVE FOREVER
LIVE AS IF WE'LL DIE TODAY

orange on the ceiling
and bright green on our hands
light blue on the sliver moon
and red all over the sand
purple on your fingernails
and pink is in your hair
black is all around me,
won't you show me
just how much you really care...

2:10am, 105mph

2:10 on a tuesday evening
doin 105 and i'm feelin fine
that girl's gonna get it get it get it
what she wants is on my mind...

she's ready to roll
and i'm ready to roll...
but she don't know
just what's in store
man, i've seen it before
take it down
and they always come back for more

watch it, she's spinnin
she's spinnin around
and spinnin around
and spinnin out

somethin's happened to the midwest woman
got a fire inside she can't deny
she's got a steel wool sweater
and snake skin boots
you can see that desire
in her eyes

she's spinnin around
she's spinnin out

"Into a valley of the thousand bright flowers"

...so i spent most of the day recovering
from the long night, last night.

we played an unplugged set,
the first with the new bassist, tyler,
as a bit of a rehearsal.
i think we have a couple unplugged appearances
on this next tour, so its good to warm it up.

damn good time.

but i didnt get to sleep til reeaally late
or somethin, so i spent a bit more of the day
in bed than i wouldve usually liked to.

but other than that,
got coffee,
read some ezra pound and kept it cool.

went to malibu to see a friend of mine-

now, i'd like to say...
its so funny how things come and go in this life.

its sometimes sad,
and sometimes relieving,
but its really just interesting all around-
and (because i am who i am) i find it generally amusing...
watching it all move.

some people drift off,
some people morph and change into seemingly
other people, and the connection changes,
some people stay in touch...
no matter what or where their life takes them.

and you never know what lies ahead,
but you can always make the effort.

i was having this conversation with my drummer, gabe,
a while back-
where we sat outside "LE CONVERSACION" (?)
on doheny, drinkin immaculate coffee and eating
the most beautiful pastries-
and discussed life, and plates...
and how some things stick, and some things dont, dig.

i believe we rested on the idea that-
even though sometimes,
what we want to stick doesnt,
and its a drag, we just want to hold onto it-
we dont know whats in store for us...

see, we all have a plate,
and when that plate is too full,
we're just wasting food,
and probly goin crazy from such an overabundance...
or eating too much and just getting fat...
so it only seems fitting, and even convenient,
that if its not part of our feast,
it wont stick to our plate.
(and things that are meant to, do.)

and some things
we're only supposed to have a taste of...
so everything MUST be savored, cuz as i said,
you never know.

and whats even more hilarious is gabe and i,
2 badass, crazy rocknroll motherfuckers,
(me probly making a couple people uncomfortable
with my ink and somewhat abrasive language)
sitting outside a french cafe, gettin deep
over coffee and pastries n shit.

but, in any case,
i do have a good feast goin at the moment...
and i'm definitely savoring, just in case
any of the things or people i care about
are just my small alotted taste.

...aaand speaking of feasts...
someone tonight asked me about thai food-

now, (terri), in los angeles,
the question of "the best thai food"
is a highly debated one...
some say that you have to go to thai town,
some say that you have to go to new york,
some even say, (including my guitarist fernando)
even though it blows me away,
toi thai is the spot-
which is just thai blasphemy,
as far as i'm concerned...
toi is a (or are) cool spot(s), i will say,
for vibe and ambience, and theyre open superlate,
which is always good...
but its hollywood, lets be honest-
what looks the best, usually,
is just a falsefront for something that is
sub-par and overrated.

go to toi if youre lookin to party,
not if youre lookin for
"THE BEST THAI FOOD IN LA", which i will say,
is at a place called, THE THAI HOUSE,
in yes, westwood, on gayley.

this place is outstanding.
its run by an endearing thai family,
its been there for ever, and they never disappoint.

get the mee-krob with whatever other dish you want.
(they do larger portions, and its always good to share)

...but i dont know how many people see this,
and its one of my favorite places to eat,
so please dont crowd me out of a table.

anywayz, thats it.
one of my secret spots devulged,
out into imaginary space.

(also, though, if youre in hollywood,
or if youre a deadhead eastsider,
which i find fairly funny- regardless-
and dont wanna leave the "too cool for the pool"
silverlake/hollywood area,
theres also THAI PEPPER on franklin.
at, i think cahuenga.
its also adequate. thanks K.)

so,
im goin into a bit of the darker, stranger,
"valley of the thousand bright flowers" place,
inside, so this whole blog-thing may start to get interesting.

stay tuned, whatever.

lovelovelove
rocknfuckinroll.
